WORLD’S LONGEST HAUNTED HOUSE Lewisburg, Ohio

Expedition Team: Dave Miller, Rosie Miller

Date: 1985-2001

According to the 2010 Guiness Book of World Records, the Haunted Cave was named the world’s longest walk-through haunted house and in 2018 was voted the most haunted attraction in the USA by USA Today readers. Me, friends and family members visited the haunted cave attraction long before this back in the 1980’s, the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Lewisburg Cave is Ohio’s largest brown bat habitat with over 30,000 resident bats living 80 feet below the surface. The Haunted Cave is in a different section than where the bats live. The haunted cave is 3,564 feet long and takes about 40 minutes to walk through. Every time we went the lines were long outside but once inside the cave it was dark & creepy. The scenes were often recessed back into the walls so that unexpectantly ghouls or monsters would dart out & scare the crap out of you. Crossing over a couple footbridges over cave water was also unique and frightening as they had a creature coming out of the water reaching for you. The cave is definitely worth the entrance fee and the wait in line.
