For 100 miles heading south on I-75 we kept seeing billboards saying “See Rock City”. We stopped at Rock City many times through the years. Located on top on Lookout Mountain, this unique Roadside Attraction which opened in 1932 is a marvel of nature featuring large ancient rock formations, a giant waterfall, Mushroom Rock, gardens with 400 native species and a cliff top view where on a clear day we can see “7 states”. The unique rock formations made us go around, cross over or trek through them.
The kids enjoyed hiking down the Enchanted Trail where we crossed a swinging bridge. We then squeezed through a tight area of rocks called “Fat Man’s Squeeze” and down steps to Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village where we saw many nursery rhyme scenes.
