HAUNTED BOOT HILL GRAVEYARD Tombstone, Arizona

Expedition Team: Dave Miller, Rosie Miller, Shane Miller, Holly Miller

Date: 1987 & August 5, 2009

My second visit to Boot Hill and first for the kids. Founded in 1878, it has 250 graves but stopped burying people in1883 other than a few outlaws.  Boot Hill refers to only men who died with their boots on. These graves are dug shallow in the hard Arizona ground deep enough just for the wood coffin with rocks places on top. The graveyard sloped down a hill with cactus & prickly pear mixed in with the tombstones. Some famous westerners buried here are Tom McLaury, Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton killed in the Gunfight at the OK Corral. Five crooks from the Bisbee, Arizona massacre also lie here. Although locals claim they have seen the apparition of Billy Clanton, spectral shadows and heard voices and laughs at night in the graveyard, every interred body was happy & at rest on this hot, sunny 95 degree afternoon. Check out some of the funny, unique epitaphs below.
