CARHENGE Alliance, Nebraska

One of my favorite roadside attractions on the 43-day trip. Carhenge is a life size replica of England’s Stonehenge only made from classic junk cars and not rock. Built in 1987 in a farm field as a memorial to the farmers father, 39 cars spray painted gray are placed to assume the same proportions as Stonehenge with the circle measuring 96 feet in diameter. Additional car sculptures are placed outside of the circle in an area called the Car Art Reserve. I embarrassed Rosie as I put on my alien mask and posed for several photos.
