On the campus of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington is the university’s mascot, a giant osprey or seahawk. It is the world’s largest seahawk sculpture with a wingspan of over 20 feet and over 1,000 individual metal feathers. It weighs 2,000 pounds and was erected in 2009.
