HIKED FIFTY SPRINGS TRAIL Caesar Creek State Park, Waynesville, Ohio

Hiking Team: Dave Miller, Rosie Miller

Date: September 25, 2024

What a great way to celebrate my 69th birthday than a hike in the woods with my beautiful bride. This 3.5-mile trail took us a couple of miles through a tunnel of trees, maples, cedar and oaks. We saw squirrels, a toad, a white-tailed deer and heard several loud songbirds. The trail curved around sort of a peninsula that gave us many glimpses of Caesar Creek Lake. A short area of the trail opened up giving us a full view of the lake. The trail led us north and uphill and near the end of the loop we came to the Zion Baptist Cemetery. This small cemetery contained many early Warren County African American families and several men from the Civil War. One man, Daniel Washington, joined the U.S. Navy at age 12. After the fun hike, we grabbed takeout food from Bravo Restaurant and enjoyed a birthday dinner of fish, lasagna and wine on our back patio.
