This 40-foot-high peanut (counting the pedestal) was on the grounds of an RV Park next to a country sausage/craft store. In the store I tried on a silly $42 crocheted turkey hat. Serves as a tribute to the importance of peanut production and farming in Turner County. Built in 1975, the peanut was knocked down and broke in 2018 due to Hurricane Michael. It was rebuilt with steel and weighed over 5,000 pounds. The peanut is the official state crop in Georgia beating out pecans.
