This park in the Osceola National Forest in northern Florida consists of a small historical visitor center and several hiking trails. We hiked the 1.2-mile trail that circled the battlefield and had many historical kiosks describing the intense fighting. This Civil War battle took place in February 1864 and was the largest battle in Florida in the war. The Confederates won as Union forces retreated to Jacksonville. Along the trail we saw lots of butterflies and birds, many large spiders and one grasshopper jumped into my shirt.
