After attending church nearby at the small St. Boniface Catholic Church where we witnessed a triple baptism, we headed to the Buncombe Trailhead. The trail was part of the 416-mile trail across the state. The goal is to add another 84 miles of trail that takes it 100% across South Carolina. This trail wound up and down through the thick forest past a campground. A washed-out bridge had us take a secondary horse trail. We ended up hiking a 2.6 section of the trail. I was carrying bear spray although no black bears were sighted.
