This popular Northern Kentucky Roadside Attraction is a popular meeting place for motorcycles out for a country road trip. And there were about one hundred motorcycles there when we arrived. Parking was very limited. Rabbit Hash consisted of eleven buildings set on the banks of the Ohio River across from Rising Sun, Indiana and its casino.
Legend has it that Rabbit Hash acquired its name by the rising waters of the Ohio River chasing scores of rabbits into the skillets of hungry farmers. The song “House of the Rising Sun” played throughout our visit. The general store sold crafts, t-shirts, miscellaneous items and people picking on guitars in the back The real find, Little Kings beer for only $3. Nick bought me a bottle, my first Little King since my college days. In one shop I saw a nostalgic photo of (Photo#4) of a riverboat on the river with two kids fishing. The 1918 photo was taken from the Indiana side and looking back at Rabbit Hash. Doug Quillen told me that a ferry crossed the Ohio River here. Downriver I saw what looked like a ferry boat, so we headed that way.
