IDITAROD TRAIL RACE MUSEUM Wasilla, Alaska

Expedition Team: Rosie Miller, Dave Miller

Expedition Date: July 6, 2018

After an exciting white water rafting trip at Denali National Park, we said goodbye to Mt. Denali and we drove from Denali to Anchorage. Along the way we stopped at the famous Iditarod Trail Race Headquarters Museum, a great Roadside Attraction.

The museum had photos of every dog that ever won the Iditarod and interesting displays. Outside on the shaded grounds were a few statues honoring famous dogs in Alaska history and a pen with puppies that would eventually be trained as sled dogs.

The fun part is that Rosie and I took a dog sled ride on the quarter mile dry land course around the museum grounds. Of course we had wheels on the dog sled since there was no snow on the ground in the summer but we got our moneys worth. My adrenaline was pumping and Rosie was screaming and laughing as those dogs pulled us very fast on the tight wooded course. A must do if you visit Alaska and at a very reasonable price.
