After participating in the Waynesville Ghost Walking Tour, we finished at this former boarding house built in 1905 which has now been turned into the “Museum at the Friends Home”. It was the first building in Waynesville to have electricity, hot and cold running water, indoor bathrooms and a hot water heater. It had 16 boarder rooms charging $3.50 a week for a room, providing three meals a day, laundry and housekeeping. The museum today is very impressive. On the second floor in a corner room was the Children Room which showcased clothing, toys and books from various years. Museum staff and ghost hunters have reported children’s voices laughing and playing in the room and in other parts of the museum. My photos and EVP’s did not produce any evidence on this investigation but the room itself and the antique dolls are very creepy looking.
