BUFFALO CEMETERY Buffalo, South Dakota

This was one of the funniest roadside attractions. This is where old buffalo and bison came to die and were buried here. Not. Just kidding. In the metropolis of Buffalo, South Dakota (population 346), this is the town cemetery. We sat in our travel trailer across the street eating a quick homemade lunch then I walked across the road to visit. I viewed many very old tombstones where humans and not big furry animals were buried. A quarter mile down the road was the famous Horse and Wolf statue in the small city park. Quite a nice statue for such a small town. The wolf was named Old Three Toes as he had lost one of his toes in a trap. This gray wolf between 1909 and 1925 was responsible for killed over $25,000 in livestock. Ironically, 50 miles west of Buffalo is the town of Bison.
