LURAY ZOO Luray, Virginia

Had to laugh at this Roadside Attraction. It is a small zoo for children, but boy does it send the wrong marketing message. The front entrance door is a mouth of an alligator with sharp teeth, not quite the friendly welcoming greeting for small children. Nearby a sign with a tiger says trespassers will be eaten. If that doesn’t scare off young kids, then maybe the huge tyrannosaurus rex out front will. I wonder what lurks inside for preschoolers…. meat eating carnivores? At any rate, this really cracked me up. Good news, the zoo does serve a very good purpose as it also is an animal rescue center.
