This 2.2-mile trail was a good workout. As we ascended a hill, we encountered a switchback which took us down parallel to a creek and soon to a large muddy pond where we saw a turtle and some small fish. We climbed a small hill as the trail took as on a loop route down and back with a view of Miami Whitewater Forest Lake through the trees. Many people were out paddling kayaks or paddleboats on this rare 54-degree warm winter day. The trail then brought us back to another loop taking us through a forest of oaks, sugar maples and hickory trees. Eventually, we descended back down to the pond and retraced our path around a creek and back up the hill.
