HIKED LAMPBLACK TRAIL, Shawnee State Park, West Portsmouth, Ohio

Hiking Team: Dave Miller, Rosie Miller

Date: September 3, 2025

We woke up to an amazing sunrise over the Ohio River looking south into Kentucky. We drove 14 miles to the state park. This trail was a rolling 3.4-mile trail through a thick forest with some leaves on trees beginning to turn fall red colors. A couple mountain bike spur trails crossed our hiking trail. Near the end, a disc golf tee and fairway in the thick trees intersected our trail.

After this warmup hike, we had a quick lunch at the state lodge. Rosie had a salmon sandwich and I enjoyed a Rueben sandwich.
